ZiroTV runs on Android phones and tablets with the same account as your TV. Your playlists, guide and films come with you, with downloads for offline viewing where your provider allows them, programme reminders and picture-in-picture.
Built for touch, not squeezed from a TV app.
On a phone, ZiroTV opens a layout of its own: live TV, the guide, and films and series, sized for a thumb.
It is the same app as on your TV, so one file installs on both, and it picks the right layout for the device by itself. Sign in, and the playlists you added on the TV are already there.
Downloads, picture-in-picture and reminders.
The phone adds three things a TV cannot do well.
Films for the train.
Tap Download on a film, or press and hold an episode, and watch without a connection. Your downloads wait under Settings > Downloads. Whether a title can be saved depends on your provider.
Picture-in-picture.
Tap the picture-in-picture button, and the stream keeps playing in a small window while you answer a message.
Reminders.
Tap a programme in the guide that has not started yet, and your phone reminds you a minute before it does. When your provider reports when your playlist expires, ZiroTV warns you two days ahead.
Set up your TV from your phone.
On the TV, choose Add from your phone. Scan the code it shows, and type your login on a real keyboard.
The playlist appears on the TV as soon as you save it. When a trial ends, the same scan takes you to the plans.
Tidy, private and ready to resume.
Dead channels out of the way.
A stream check tests every channel in your list and hides the ones that do not answer. Switch off Hide dead channels in Settings to see them again.
Locked with your fingerprint.
Set an app-lock PIN in Settings, then switch on Unlock with biometrics. The PIN still works when your fingerprint or face does not.
Back where you stopped.
Films and episodes you started wait in Continue Watching, and play on from where you left them.
Install on Android.
On phones and tablets with Android 7.0 or newer. There is no iPhone or iPad app yet.
- Open zirotv.com/apk in your phone’s browser. The file downloads on its own.
- Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow your browser to install unknown apps.
- Tap Install. If Play Protect warns that it does not recognise the app, tap More details, then Install anyway.
- Open ZiroTV.
Android asks because ZiroTV is not on Google Play yet. The warning is about where the app comes from, not about the app.
Phone questions.
Does my phone count as one of my screens?
Yes. Every plan covers two screens, TVs or phones, and each device you sign in to your account uses one. To free a place, choose Log out under Settings > Account & cloud sync on a device you no longer use, or remove it in your account at app.zirotv.com. A removed device goes back to its own free trial if it has days left.
Can I cast to my TV?
Not from ZiroTV. For the best picture, install ZiroTV on the TV itself. It runs on Fire TV and Google TV, and your phone can set it up by scanning the code the TV shows.
Does it work on tablets?
Yes. Android tablets on Android 7.0 or newer get the same touch layout as phones. On a big tablet you can switch on Use TV layout in Settings, and switch it off again from the TV layout’s own settings.
